Sucked me Dry

Look me in the eye, and tell me I am pitiful

Taste me, taste me like a blackberry picked fresh off a bush

Sweetness is unimaginable,

But that tartness is universal

I hate to love you the same way you love to hate me

The universe is swell when you hate me, and I can't find a way to explain just how much I love you, Even though I shouldn't

Because when I taste you,

Your jaw clenches, wanting someone to take a Remote and pause us, but I can see fear in your eyes

But when you taste me,

My complexion is morbid

I am stripped of soul,

I have gained this carefully articulated carelessness

I grimace when you ask if that's okay,

But then again, I still want you all the same

You sucked me dry, but it's okay

I'd rather be tossed to the side like a dried out joint than ever be alone

For then I would be just like you
